Thelonious Funk Sessions #129 Year End Review Vol. 1of 5

Greetings,

It's that time again for me to do my top 100 tunes of 2011. It has been quite a groundbreaking year in music!

In the top 100 we have music from Sina, G.H. & a Henrik Schwarz remix of Dapayk. Margot does a nice remix of Dan Snaith (AKA Caribou) in his Daphni guise. Arttu has had a nice coming out party with his various releases. His EP on Turquoise Blue are one of his highlights.

One artist that came to mind at the last minute was Montreal native Ango. His tune is certainly one worth checking out. Detroit duo Oliverwho Factory are no strangers to the Year end review. This year is no exception.

DJ Koze's stunning remix of Efdemin cracks the list. This year I was introduced to another rising talent. Najem Sworb's Severance ep was one of the most impressive EPs heard this year.

For the top 90 I have two tracks from Theo Parrish that I found out about just days before this list was completed. The first is his remix of Mind Fair on International Feel & the other is his latest production on his Sound Signature label.

I also have two tracks from Smallville records. First one is the highlight of Moomin's superb LP "The Story About You" while the other tunes from Smallpeople was added very recently. Robag Wruhme took some time to do a great remix of Extrawelt's Neuland.

Another Detroit duo Reference cracks the list with a nice release on Carl Craig's Planet E label. Roman Lindau winds down the top 90 with his massive track from Ann Aimee's Inertia series.

Next week we go into the top 80s. Until then...

Enjoy The Music,

Henderick AKA Thelonious Funk

END OF SHOW

    Hi
    Yes, good job.
Just a technical problem with the 1st hour MP3 file loaded (twice) :
    - first 2 minutes, saturation
    - From 2:30 to 8:00, the sound is saturated and hashed.
May be a special effect, but it would be at lasted a few tens seconds.
    Strange.
... Or it is the worst sound I heard from years !
Thanks to you, I discovered a lot of experimental sounds, like the excellent Neonlogic, but this one (Sina) is really the least interesting for me.
    Thanks Henderick

    Jack, Normandie, France.

    Hi Jack,

It is actually the production of the tunes. The first track is within 2 & a half to 3 minutes. The second song by GH is certianly the production itself.  Check it out on youtube:

Regardless I do appreciate you insight on the show. As I have told other listeners that there maybe somethings you might not agree on. This is fine because what is important that you are listening. For that alone I thank you... Keep the opinions going. Rather hear that than no response at all...
